| Description: | A standard fluorimetric assay was used to measure influenza virus neuraminidase activity. The substrate 2 -(4-methylumbelliferyl)-alpha-D-acetylneuraminic acid is cleaved by neuraminidase to yield a fluorescent product that can be quantified. Fluorescence was quantitated in a Perkin-Elmer fluorimeter (Model LS50B) with an excitation wavelength of 360 nm, emission wavelength of 448 nm. |
